Dance Skating Session under the Zakim Bridge

Message from the organizer of Dance Skating Session under the Zakim Bridge:

Greetings,

We hope you can join us for our next Dance Skating Session under the Zakim Bridge on Friday Night, Sept 11, 2015, 7-10pm!

This year we are coordinating with Cambridge SkateFest, an Inline Freestyle Skating event on Saturday and Sunday. Their website is http://cambridgeskatefest.com.  Check out some great moves from those who like their 8 wheels in a row: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miwEonOiTpk

This is a great place right on the water with the ever-color-changing metal sculptures surrounding us.  From the Zakim Bridge above, it even looks like the aliens have landed.

Maurice is checking on the date and hopefully will be able to join us as a live DJ, so we will have some great tunes and a whole bunch of skaters!

Also, the Lynch Family Skate Park is really taking shape.  It is just over the North Point Pedestrian Bridge from our Skate Circle, and you can check out the progress!

http://www.thecharles.org/projects-and-programs/skate-park/  The park is supposed to be finished this fall.

As always, if folks can come a little early around 6:15pm to help set up, we will have leaf blowers and brooms to clear the skating surface, and can use help carrying the sound and light systems.

We have had great weather for all but one past event, and will keep you updated on the weather in an email on Thursday, Sept 10.

Hope to see you there!

Bob

The skate circle is on the pedestrian path immediately under the Zakim Bridge on the Charlestown side of the River.

There are two parking options, since the Skate Park Construction has closed Parking Option 2 on the map.

  1. Park at North Point Park Parking to the left of the new EF Education Building, under the highway bridge.  Follow Museum Way across from the Museum of Science parking lot, turn right onto Education Street and follow it by the new EF Education Building.  Pass this building (with the huge chasm) on your right.

  1. You may also park in the few spaces near Paul Revere Park.  There may be up to 10 spots here, but it is marked “No Parking.”  Please leave 2 spaces for me and Maurice, so we can get the cleaning equipment and sound system there.  After hours, we have parked here without issue.  Your mileage may vary.  Take Chelsea Street to Warren Road, Right onto Constitution Road, Drive under Rutherford Avenue Bridge and park on the right.  Walk 100 yards on gravel paths to the skate circle under the Zakim Bridge.
