Contests

Slalom Contest

In each round, each competitor will have two chances to skate through a course consisting of several lines of small cones for 30 seconds:

  • 10 to 20 cones within each line
  • Cones spaced 80 cm (or 120 cm or 50 cm) apart from each other (competitor can choose which line to skate)
  • Competitor can choose any style of slalom to weave through the cones

For first-time competitors: No additional skills beyond going forward, turning, and stopping are required!  Any competitor who has basic skating skills to weave around cones can participate. The main goal is simply to avoid hitting the cones and to skate around them smoothly, using your own personal style.

Note: Slalom is on a smaller street course with a line of 20 cones spaced at 80cm, a line of 10 cones at 120cm, and a line of 10 cones at 50cm.

Freeride Contest

In each round, each competitor will have two chances to skate through a course consisting of various obstacles including:

  • Line of slalom cones
  • 15 Foot Grind box
  • Spine
  • Bank of ramps with decking
  • Quarter Pipe

Each competitor is free to skate each obstacle in any manner s/he chooses. (For instance, you can simply hop the box instead of grinding it.)  The level of execution / style, and difficulty of a move/trick will be judged for each obstacle and awarded a corresponding number of points.  Competitors can earn extra points by executing one or more slides (cess, power slide, acid, parallel etc.) at any point during the run.  The competitor with the highest total number of points (sum of all the obstacles) will be the winner for the round.

For first-time competitors: The course is made up of modest features to accommodate a wide range of freeride/aggressive skill levels.  Any competitor who’s comfortable with modest jumps and small skatepark transitions can participate.

Note: To ensure safety, helmets are required for Freeride.
